Dr Hans-Jürgen Brick

Dr Hans-Jürgen Brick has been a member of the management board of Amprion GmbH since 2009 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on 1 April 2020. Furthermore, as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), he is responsible for the following areas: Economic Grid Management, Strategy & Corporate Development, Human Resources, Legal Affairs, Operations Revision, Compliance, Risk Management, Corporate Communications and European Affairs.

Prior to his appointment to the board at Amprion, he had from 2003 to 2009 been a board member of RWE Transportnetz Strom GmbH, out of which today’s Amprion GmbH arose.

Brick was born on 10 May 1960 in Essen, at the heart of Germany’s old industrial heartland in the Ruhr region. He studied at the College of Finance North Rhine-Westphalia (FHF Nordkirchen) and subsequently graduated in law from the Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Cologne. In 1992, Brick took his Second State Examination in Law and received a doctorate in law from the University of Cologne in the same year. In 1993, he was called to the bar at the Regional Court of Essen.

Brick began his professional career in 1992 as a tax consultant at RWE Energie AG. From 1993 to 1998, he headed up the Department for Fundamental Tax Issues/Income Tax. For a short period, he then took over the Central Department for International Tax Law & Shareholdings. Between 1999 and 2000, Brick was responsible for all tax issues at RWE Energie AG. In 2000, he moved to RWE Plus AG, where he was in charge of Finance, Accounting and Tax through to 2003.

Dr Klaus Kleinekorte

Dr Klaus Kleinekorte has been a member of the management board of Amprion GmbH and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) since 2009 and is responsible for the following areas: Asset Management, Engineering and Operations, Offshore, Transmission System Operation and Occupational Safety.

Prior to his appointment to the board at Amprion, Kleinekorte had from 2003 to 2009 been a board member of RWE Transportnetz Strom GmbH, out of which today’s Amprion GmbH arose.

Kleinekorte was born on 15 October 1957 in Rietberg-Neuenkirchen (Westphalia). He graduated in electrical engineering from RWTH Aachen University in 1983. In 1990, he received his PhD, likewise from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at RWTH Aachen.

Kleinekorte began his professional career in 1983 as a research associate in the Faculty of General Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at RWTH Aachen. In 1988, a research internship in the Department of Neutron Physics at the EU Joint Research Centre took him to Ispra in Italy. That same year, Kleinekorte moved to the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) as a senior engineer in the department entitled “Computer Engineering 2”.

1992 saw Kleinekorte join RWE Energie AG, where he initially worked as Assistant to the Chief Technical Officer at the control centre in Brauweiler. Between 1995 and 1998, he assumed control of project management in the Central Department for Power Transmission in Essen. In 1999/2000, Kleinekorte held various managerial posts in the Central Department for Grid Marketing. He was then appointed boss of RWE Energie AG’s System Operation & Control Centre in Brauweiler. Between 2000 and 2003, Kleinekorte was responsible for System Operation Grids at RWE Net AG.

Peter Rüth

Peter Rüth has been a member of the management board of Amprion GmbH since 30 April 2020. As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), he is responsible for the following areas: Finance, Controlling, Investment Management, Accounting, Taxes, Insurance, Regulation Management and Procurement.

Rüth was born on 1 April 1966 in Essen. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Essen (UGH Essen, now the University of Duisburg-Essen) in 1993 with a degree (Diplom) in Economics. He began his career that very same year as a trainee at the RWE power station in Frimmersdorf. Between 1995 and 2003, Rüth held various management and advisory positions in the grid and power plant division of RWE AG.

From 2003 to 2013, Rüth was Head of Accounting & Controlling at RWE Westfalen-Weser-Ems AG and RWE Vertrieb AG. In 2013, he switched to sales management for RWE Deutschland AG, where he was appointed Head of Sales Performance International the following year. Between 2016 and 2020, Rüth held the post of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Retail Deutschland at innogy SE.
