Amprion GmbH is one of four transmission system operators in Germany. Amprion GmbH has two shareholders: M31 Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. Energie KG that holds 74.9 per cent and RWE Alkaios Holding GmbH with a 25.1 per cent share.

M31 Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. Energie KG is a consortium of utility companies and predominantly German institutional financial investors from the insurance industry. These include Ärztliche Beteiligungsgesellschaft (AEBG), MEAG MUNICH ERGO, Swiss Life, and Talanx. These investors hold direct or indirect stakes in M31.
