Amprion receives €2.2 billion in equity capital from shareholders
Transmission system operator Amprion GmbH (‘Amprion’) successfully completed its €2.2 billion capital increase today as planned.
Amprion's shareholders, M31 Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. Energie KG, a consortium of predominantly German institutional financial investors from the insurance industry and pension funds, and RWE Alkaios Holding GmbH, a joint venture between RWE AG and Apollo Global Management, have provided the equity capital as planned and participated in the capital measure on a pro rata basis.
Amprion is pursuing an ambitious investment programme to implement the energy transition in Germany. In addition to strengthening the company's financial power, further development of the regulatory framework and, as a result, an internationally competitive return on equity in the coming years are key prerequisites for implementing the investments.
“We are very pleased with the smooth implementation of this capital increase. It once again underlines the long-standing, trustful cooperation with our shareholders, who are preparing for growth at Amprion. In this context, we were pleased to welcome several new owners to our group of shareholders”, says Peter Rüth, CFO of Amprion. "Regular capital injections are an integral part of our financing strategy and ensure the implementation of our investment programme. Investments in our projects and their timely completion are an important prerequisite for the transformation of the energy system in Germany.”
