General information on data processing

We only ever collect and use our users’ personal data where this is necessary for providing a functioning website and our contents and services. Our users’ personal data are usually only collected and used with the users’ consent. Exceptionally, this is not the case if it is not possible to obtain prior consent for material reasons and the processing of such data is permitted by law.

Our processing of personal data is lawful when the data subject has given consent to such processing under Article 6 (1) a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The processing necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party is lawful under Article 6(1) b) GDPR. This also applies to processing which is necessary prior to entering into a contract.

The processing of personal data necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which our company is subject is lawful under Article 6 (1) c) GDPR.

Processing which is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by our company or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject, is lawful under Article 6(1) f) GDPR.

The data subject’s personal data will be erased as soon as the reasons for which it has been stored no longer apply. Personal data may also be stored if required by European or national laws, European Union regulations, laws or other legal provisions to which we are subject in our function as controller. Data are also erased if a period of storage stipulated in the stated norms expires, unless the data must continue to be stored for the purpose of entering or fulfilling a contract.

Data collection and processing

Personal data (e.g. name, address, email, etc.) does not have to be provided in order to use our online services.

Creation of log files

We automatically collect and store for a temporary period log files on our servers and information sent to us by your browser. Such data includes but is not limited to

  • The browser type/version
  • The operating system used
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited website)
  • Host name of the accessing computer (IP address)
  • The date and time of your visit to the website
  • Status code of the website visited

We cannot use this data to draw any conclusions about your personal identity; such data are only evaluated for statistical purposes with the aim of optimising our website and our services.

Making contact

Personal data are also collected if you disclose them to us voluntarily. This may be the case, for example, in relation to pre-contractual measures, such as ordering services, recording registration data for closed user groups, for applications relating to advertised job vacancies or orders for newsletters and information material. Your data are also treated confidentially in these cases and is not passed on to third parties unless this is necessary for the purpose of completing your order.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. A cookie is a data package which is sent by a website when it is visited and which, as the user of the website, your browser stores on your hard disk. If you go back to our website’s server to use the website again, your computer’s browser returns the cookie previously received by it to the server. This procedure enables the server to evaluate the information it has received in various ways. Cookies can, for example, manage advertising banners or make it easier to navigate on a website.

There are two types of cookies: temporary “session” cookies and persistent cookies.

Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close the browser. These cookies store a “session ID” which can assign various queries made by your browser to the common session. This enables your computer to be recognised the next time you return to our website. Session cookies need to be used to enable us to make the website available to you. The processing of your personal data using session cookies is lawful under Article 6(1) f) GDPR.

Persistent cookies automatically expire after a specific length of time, which may differ according to the type of cookie. You can delete cookies in your browser’s security settings at any time. Cookies allow us to understand, for the purposes stated above, how and to what extent you are using the website. The purpose of these cookies is to optimise your surfing of our website. Persistent cookies are used with your consent. The relevant data processing is lawful under Article 6(1) a) GDPR.

If, as the user of the website, you wish to stop cookies being used, you can do this by changing the settings in the Internet browser you are using: this is the programme you use to open and display websites (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera or Safari). However, in some cases you may find that you are no longer able to make full use of all the functions on our website.

Use of Piwik for statistical purposes

With your consent we also integrate cookies from third-party providers. In this case the data packages from third parties are stored in your browser and sent back to them. This website uses Piwik, a web tracking tool which collects and stores data for statistical and optimisation purposes.

Piwik uses “cookies”; these are data packages which are stored on your computer which enable us to analyse the way you use the website. For this purpose, the information about your use produced by the cookie (including your anonymised IP address) is transmitted to and stored on our server. This function can be disabled using the button at the end of the text.

The information produced by the cookie is used exclusively for statistical purposes and to improve the website and server. Your IP address is anonymised and cannot be used to identify you. Data are not disclosed to third parties. Every time a website is visited, data relating to this activity is stored. Specifically, this is the following information:

  • Page titles
  • Search term (used by the visitor to arrive at the website)
  • Search engines
  • Pages URL
  • Number of pages visited
  • Location (country) of visitor
  • Browser
  • Operating system
  • Screen resolution
  • Visit times
  • Duration of visit
  • Entry pages
  • Exit pages
  • Downloads
  • Linking websites
You can change your browser settings to prevent cookies from being stored; however, you may then find that you are unable to make full use of functions on the website.

Your visit to this website is currently being tracked by the Piwik web analytics application. Click below to stop your visit being tracked.

You are entitled to receive information about the personal data stored on you, about its source and recipients as well as the purpose for which it is being stored.

You can require us to correct or erase your data or restrict its processing if the data is objectively incorrect or processing is not (or no longer) permissible.

You may also be entitled to a restriction of the processing if Amprion GmbH no longer needs the data, but you do need this data to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.

If we have processed your data after weighing up competing interests, you are entitled to object to such processing.

You have the right to revoke your declaration of consent under data protection law at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not prejudice the lawfulness of processing based on previous consent given prior to its revocation.
